For four decades, DASURECO has remarkably been doing its share in providing the people in its coverage area the opportunity to hasten their economic advancement. It has powered small-medium business enterprises and growing industries, such as communication networks and service facilities which opened hundreds of thousands of jobs, thus, promoted a modern quality of life in this side of the country.

The Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DASURECO) was established on June 1, 1975 as the sole power distributor in the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental, transforming the slow-paced electric service supplied by a family-owned energy firm called the Rural Electrification Corporation (RECORDA) in 1950s.

Franchise Area

Ranked as the 63rd electric cooperative, DASURECO was subsequently incorporated and registered with the National Electrification Administration (NEA) in accordance with the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 269, as amended. The expiry of the Certificate of Franchise issued by NEA will be on the 13th day of September 2048.

 

 

Life improves with electricity. It gives people the desire for convenience and innovation. Hence, reaching to a total of 150,355 billed member-consumers as of December 2017 largely composed of residential consumers with 131,419 billed member-consumers or equivalent to 87 percent while industrial consumers is comprise only of 1% of the overall number billed consumers. Small as it seem, but when it comes to energy sales, industrial consumers have utilized 42%.

For the past five years, the annual average growth rate in the number of consumers surged up 8.2% while the annual average growth rate in energy sales increased up to 9.63%.

True to its mission in providing reliable power, DASURECO keeps on acquiring supply contingencies and encompassing tangible technical innovations.

 

In 2014, DASURECO has acquired the sub-transmission lines serving its franchise area with a total of 76 kilometers, except for the Davao-Digos Sub-transmission where we share the line with other utilities. With the growing number of consumers, DASURECO managed to install 2260.32 kilometers of primary distribution line structures in its coverage area, may it be in the City, coastal, and upland.

Comparison of Power Rates (December 2017)

In 2017, DASURECO still has the lowest residential rate among all other electric cooperatives in Region XI, living its commitment to provide a reasonably-priced electricity along with its quality customer service.

 

Notwithstanding the stretch of lines up to the farthest barrio, DASURECO still managed to maintain its system loss to a single digit. With tremendous economic growth in 2017, our crews work tirelessly on each opportunity to perform maintenance and upgrades to the distribution system that will improve service reliability. Average system loss of 8.67% in 2017 is still within the standards set by the ERC.

 

In November 2017, DASURECO acquired its 20MVA Malita Substation located in Barangay Culaman, Malita, Davao Occidental to further address power reliability problems not just in the booming town of Malita but also in its neighboring municipalities like Don Marcelino and Jose Abad Santos.

 

In addition, the new 20MVA Zone II, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur substation is scheduled to be commissioned in second quarter of 2018.

At the height of DASURECO’s responsibility for total electrification considers whopping challenge in attaining excellent service, yet with the collar of reliance from its consumers and firm partnership with the local government, DASURECO continues to grow and be of service to the people of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.
